Cartoon exhibition dedicated to Cuban health professionals

Havana, April 13 (RHC)-- The 22nd International Biennial of Graphic Humor began with the opening of a cartoon exhibition entitled ‘Superheroes’, dedicated to Cuban health professionals fighting the Covid-19 pandemic on the island and abroad.

The exhibition comprises some 20 works by 15 Cuban cartoonists, among them Adan Iglesias, Enrique Lacoste, Lazaro Miranda, Alejandro Falco, Alfredo Martirena and Aristides Hernandez. The cartoon exhibition is on display at the entrance of the Cuban Ministry of Culture here in Havana.

Under the slogan ‘Humor Brings Us closer’, this year’s Biennial has set a new record of participants. Organizers said some 1700 works were submitted by artists from around the world. The jury selected 223 works by Cuban and foreign authors.

The event’s program creative workshops and lectures on the history and contemporary trends of graphic humor.

The 22nd International Biennial of Graphic Humor is also dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the humor publication P'alante, and the birthday anniversaries of three famous cartoonists Francisco Blanco (Blanquito), Virgilio Martinez and Juan Eduardo David (Juan David).
