Exhibition inspired by Cuba opens in Serbia

Havana, May 24 (RHC)-- A painting exhibition by Serbian artist Dejan Matic, inspired by Cuba, was inaugurated at the Gallery of the Association of Artists and Designers of Serbia.

Cuban ambassador to the Balkan nation, Gustavo Tristá del Todo, attended the opening ceremony. He highlighted the role of culture in forging a better understanding and friendship relations between nations.

He thanked the Serbian artist; whose paintings reflect his impressions and experiences lived during a visit to Cuba little over a year ago.

Matic was visiting Cuba when they pandemic struck. He said that amidst so much global uncertainty due to Covid-19, he found refuge in Cuban dance, music and the hospitality of the Cuban people.

Matic, who is also a sculptor and composer, thanked the Cuban Ambassador and the Cuban people, whom he said as the main inspiration source for this work.

On hand for the opening were activists with the Serbia-Cuba Friendship Association.
