Aliento

Havana, September 10 (RHC)-- A new exhibition entitled ‘Aliento’ (Courage) was inaugurated this Friday, September 10th, at Havana’s Collage Habana Gallery, belonging to Fondo de Bienes Culturales.

It comprises art pieces by painter, drawer, illustrator and engraver Zaida del Río and her son Cristhian González-Téllez del Río, made over the past several months of necessary isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The exhibition then spreads a message of hope and optimism, as evidence that art heals the soul. It will remain open to the public until November.

The artists said ‘Aliento’ is their tribute to life and love.

Zaida del Rio has exhibited her works in more than 30 solo and collective exhibitions here in Cuba, in Brazil, Spain, United States, France, Italy, Japan, Martinique and Mexico.

Several of her paintings are in private hands, belong to the collection of the National Fine Arts Museum, or decorate iconic places in hotels and theatres.

An award-winning artist, Zaida del Río was awarded the Gold Medal and First Painting Prize at Cairo Biennial, in Egypt (1993), Cuba’s Alejo Carpentier Medal (1994) and Third Painting Prize at TENRI Biennial, in Japan (1998).
