Havana, Sept. 21 (RHC)-- Cuba’s Confucius Institute, attached to the University of Havana, organizes a season of Chinese Culture 2021, on digital platforms due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It includes a broad program with Chinese classical films, conferences on Chinese traditional medicine and martial arts lessons.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, Reinier Aldazábal, a specialist with the Confucius Institute, said the virtual program focuses on Kung Fu and its development on the Caribbean island state by professor Roberto Vargas Lee, the founding president of the Cuban Kung Fu School in 1995.

Confucius Institutes are public educational and cultural promotion programs funded and arranged currently by the Chinese International Education Foundation. The stated aim of the program is to promote Chinese language and culture, support local Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitate cultural exchanges.

The Chinese Culture Season 2021 in Cuba will take place from September 27th through October 30th. The program includes also a conference by Cuban historian Aleagna Cabrera on the Chinese influence on the Cuban nationality, and a workshop on Tai chi practice.

An exhibition on 19th century Chinese art will also be inaugurated, curated by Yosvanis Fornaris, with works belonging to the vast collection of Cuba’s National Decorative Arts Museum.
