Cuba will mark the 170th birthday anniversary of National Hero José Martí with a broad program of activities, both national and international, which begins this month and runs through January, 2023.

Héctor Hernández Pardo, deputy president of the José Martí Cultural Society, said the aim is to promote the legacy of Martí, assess the validity of his thinking and resort to him in the quest of solutions to pressing problems affecting humanity today.

The program of activities will begin with a solemn ceremony on January 28th --Martí’s actual birth day-- at the Memorial bearing his name at Havana’s Revolution Square, and another one at the headquarters of the José Martí Studies Center.
