Havana, Feb. 24 (RHC)— Cuba’s record label Bis Music announced on its YouTube channel that a tribute album dedicated to Pacho Alonso will be released soon, on the 39th anniversary of his death.

Pascasio Alonso Fajardo –better known as Pacho Alonso-- was a Cuban singer and bandleader. He is attributed with creating the musical form pilón in collaboration with percussionist/composer Enrique Bonne.

Entitled ‘Como te Siento Yo. Homenaje a Pacho Alonso’, the new album is the result of a team effort, as a group of prominent Cuban musicians joined their latent to pay tribute to Pacho. Participants include Duo Christian y Rey, made up of the grandsons of Pacho Alonso, Angel Bonne, maestro Manolito Simonet and his band Trabuco, Alain Pérez, Orquesta Aragón, Vania Borges, Issac Delgado and Haila María Mompié, Paulo FB, Beatriz Márquez and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Produced by Emilio Vega, the 14-track album includes new, contemporary versions of tunes popularized by Pacho in the 1950s and 60s, selected by his son, also renowned musician Pachito Alonso and Pacho’s grandsons Christian and Rey Alonso.

It includes son, pilón, bolero and guaracha tunes, with titles like ‘Dame la mano’, ‘Rico Pilón’, ‘Ya tú sabes mucho de la vida’ and ‘Niebla de riachuelo’, among others.
