Literary Criticism Awards Ceremony at Book Fair in Cuba 

Havana, February 15 (RHC)-- A group of outstanding Cuban writers were awarded today with the Literary Critics Award 2022, in the context of the XXXI Havana International Book Fair.

In all, 10 authors received at the San Geronimo College, in this capital city, this distinction granted to the most important literary or artistic titles published by Cuban publishing houses, during the period of one year.

In the Aula Magna of the institution, the president of the jury, Arturo Arango, recognized the work of Cubans Ruben Rodriguez, Leymen Perez, Dazra Novak, Carlos Celdran, Ulises Rodriguez, Laura Ruiz, Reinaldo Montero, Damaris Calderon, Victor Fowler and Venezuelan Norberto Codina.

"After reading 73 titles published in the last two years by Cuban publishers, this contest aims to stimulate both the creation of the authors and the work of the publishing houses. On this occasion, the panel of judges was made up of Jesús Curbelo, Israel Domínguez, Ricardo Pérez and Emmanuel Tornés," Arango said at a press conference.

The outstanding works were El año que nieve, Subsuelos, Niñas en la casa vieja, Hierro, Las últimas vacas van a morir, Grifas, El viaje circular, Daño colateral, Caminos nuevos and Cuando el béisbol se parece al cine.

"It would be a platitude to try to define literary creation beyond the author's motivations and the technical, formal aspects inherent to the work, or the natural procedure chosen for its validation, just as for all art, criticism," said writer Ruben Rodriguez at the ceremony.

Present at the ceremony were the president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodríguez, and the director of the Dulce María Loynaz Cultural Center, Catalina Rodríguez.
