Havana, August 24 (RHC) – Cuban striker Luis Javier Paradela may play in the United States, in the USL, for Reno 1868, 2nd Division team of the MLS team San Jose Earthquakes.

This news has surprised many, and it is a fact that it will be historic, because he would be the first Cuban to ever play on an American team without illegally leaving Cuba.

Nevertheless, the story is not that simple. There is interest from the club, which have Paradela already in its official roster.  The transfer negotiation will be done through the player's current team, Guatemalan Universidad de San Carlos, that will cover all the expenses, and that way all transactions between Reno and the Cuban Football Association can be avoided.

The Cuban Football Association (ACF) has shown interest in the deal and they are eagerly waiting for some documents of Paradela to arrive, documents that have already been requested but still yet to be handed in. The  ACF declared they are going to provide all the support the player may need, since the transfer will supposedly open the breach in the blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba over nearly 60 years.
