Cuban boxing stars will be present in Copa Teófilo Stevenson

Las Tunas, January 18 (RHC)-- The Cuban Boxing Federation (FCB) has announced that the VIII Copa Teófilo Stevenson in Memoriam will be held from March 29th to April 4th in Las Tunas, with the participation of the main figures of boxing in Cuba.

The province's media announced that Alberto Puig de la Barca, FCB's president, says that the confrontation will serve as preparation for the Cuban preselected who will attend the pre-Olympic tournament in May.  

Olympic champions Julio César la Cruz, Roniel Iglesias, and Arlén López will attend the fist competition in Las Tunas, as well as stars such as Lázaro Álvarez, Andy Cruz, and Yosvani Veitía.

As usual, fighters from all the provinces will be summoned to the match, with a high percentage of new players who will compete in the categories from 75 kilograms onwards.

The date of the beginning of the Cup will coincide with the 69th birthday of the Three-time Olympic and World Champion Teofilo Stevenson Lawrence, who said goodbye to boxing in the Leonardo McKenzie Grant Multipurpose Hall in 1988, the scenario where the fight will take place.
