Robert Lewandowski receives the Golden Shoe award as top scorer in all European leagues, September 21, 2021.

Berlin, September 22 (RHC)-- Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski won the Golden Shoe awarded by European Sports Media to Europe's top scorer for the first time.

The Polish player achieved this honor after scoring a total of 41 goals last season in the Bundesliga, a figure that helped him beat Torpedo Müller's record of 71/72 (40 goals).

The top scorer in all European leagues received the award the day before at the Allianz Arena museum, where he showed how proud he was to add another title to his trophy cabinet.

"Congratulations on the Golden Boot, Lewy. When I heard you had won the Golden Shoe, I thought, 'What, just this once?' You see how long it takes to get to the top. But you've been there for a long time and you deserve this award. I'm very happy for you. The way you've started this season, I wouldn't be surprised if you win the Golden Boot again. As long as we don't meet, you can score as many goals as you want," is the congratulatory message from your former Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp.
