Havana, October 23 (RHC)-- Havana wrestler Milaymis Marin leads the Cuban women's wrestling team that will compete in the First Pan American Junior Games, scheduled for Cali and Valle del Cauca, from November 25 to December 5.

The 19-year-old Marín, from the capital, arrives at this fair with the endorsement of being champion at the Youth Olympic Games, in 2018, and a year later world junior and under-23 world champion.

In 2020 she took part in the Pre-Olympic of America, in Ottawa, Canada, and was eliminated in her second fight by the Brazilian Alina Da Silva. Then, last May, she participated in the World Pre-Olympic in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she lost in the quarterfinals to Turkey's Yasemin Adar, which left her out of Tokyo 2020.

Of the six gladiators who will attend the multi-sport event in Colombian territory, only the 50 kg division remains to be defined, where Daniela Osorio and Greili Bencosme, silver medalist at the Pan American Games in Oaxtepec, Mexico, are vying for the spot.

The remaining five divisions will be defended by Olympian Laura Herin in the 50 kg, Yaynelis Sanz (57 kg), Yolanda Cordero (62 kg), Dainialis Canales (68 kg) and the main figure of the team, Havana's Marín in the 76 kg, according to the website of Radio Rebelde radio station.

The wrestling tournaments of the First Pan American Youth Games will be held from December 1 to 4 and, according to the official calendar, the 76 kg category, in which Marín will compete, is scheduled for December 3.
