According to the institution's website, the jersey of the Cuban idol will become part of the Olympic heritage for posterity, along with other 424 pieces donated by the athletes who participated in Tokyo 2020.

In that case, in the exhibition to be held there in March 2022, it will be possible to appreciate, among other acquisitions, a jersey of the living legend of U.S. women's basketball, Sue Bird, and the attire of Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic.

As has become traditional after each Olympic Games, the IOC's Culture and Heritage department compiles an important collection of athletes' outfits and audiovisual documents that will summarize the Games for future generations.

"It is really exciting the new collection that will grace the Museum and that we will show to the world in our next exhibition Riding the Olympic Wave," said Yasmin Meichtry, associate director of the IOC's Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage.

In this regard, she specified that the Tokyo 2020 collections covered 28 of the 33 sports, among them, some debutants such as surfing, skating and sport climbing.

He also informed that a total of 41,240 photos were added and 73 interviews with athletes, IOC members and representatives of the participating delegations were recorded. The next objective of the IOC's Culture and Heritage team will be the Winter Olympic Games to be held in the Chinese city of Beijing, from February 4 to 20 next year.
