Cuban diver advances to world semifinals

Havana, June 27 (RHC)-- Cuba's top diver Anisley Garcia qualified this Sunday to the semifinal in the 10-meter platform diving event at the World Aquatic Sports Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The 20-year-old Havana native finished 13th in the preliminaries, in a field of 33 divers, according to the results table on the official website of the International Swimming Federation.

Anisley totaled 281.10 points and her best dive was the first, with a score of 58.50, while her most complex dives were the second and fourth, with a 3.3 degree of difficulty.

Chinese competitors Yuxi Chen (413.95) and Hongchang Quan (410.85) dominated the preliminary round.

This afternoon in the Hungarian capital, the Cuban will be the sixth to start the semifinal, among 18 divers, in the 19th edition of the great competition.

Cuba has already competed with four swimmers in the long course pool and four in artistic swimming, and only five divers have yet to make their debut, in an event that will take place from June 17 to July 3.
