Cuba's youth weightlifting team to Pan American Championship

Havana, October 5 (RHC)-- Three weightlifters will represent Cuba at the Pan American Youth Weightlifting Championship, to be held from October 18 to 23 in Lima, Peru.

The team was flagged off the day before at the 'Manuel Suarez Fernandez' Gymnasium of the 'Cerro Pelado' High Performance Athletes Training School in Havana.

Elizabeth Reyes Entenza, in the 87 kilos division, and in the over 87 kilos division, María Félix Sarría Ruiz, both from the central-southern province of Cienfuegos, are part of the Cuban team.

From the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, Lesther Fernández Prades will compete in the 102 kilograms.

The Cuban team is also made up of a coach, two technical officials and a head of delegation.

The president of the Cuban Weightlifting Federation, Jorge Luis Barcelán, said at the flag-bearing ceremony that for this event they expect to be among the first three places in each of the weight categories that will participate, taking into account the preparation of the youngsters.
