Havana, June 2 (RHC) - Cubans Oscar Pino and Luis Orta won silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the Ranking Series wrestling tournament held in Kyrgyzstan.

Pino, in the 130 kg Greco-Roman style, won two bouts to reach the final, but for the gold medal he could not prevail against Iranian Amin Mirzazadeh, who dominated him in a close fight with a 2-1 score.

Owner of one silver and one bronze medal in World Championships, Pino debuted with an 11-0 success by technical superiority (ST) against the Georgian Sulkhan Buidze, and then in the semifinals he had to push himself even harder to defeat Fatih Boskurt, from Turkey, 5-3.

Last February, in the first Ranking Series of the year, held in Zagreb, Croatia, the Cuban won the title, and had also been crowned in January in the Grand Prix Henri Deglane, in Nice, France, where no points were scored.

Also in Kyrgyzstan competed this Thursday the Cuban Olympic champion Luis Orta (67 kg), who won one of the bronze metals.

The Olympic champion of Tokyo 2020 in the 60 kg Greco style, defeated the Uzbek Mahmud Bakshilloev with a 7-1 slate, to secure a place on the podium of awards.

In the semifinals he had been stopped by China's Husiyueto (9-0).

Orta and Pino are two of the main cards of triumph for Cuban wrestling in the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, to be held from June 23 to July 8.
