Quito, February 4 (RHC)-- The candidate for the presidency of Ecuador with Union por la Esperanza (UNES), Andres Arauz, has announced that he reached a preliminary agreement with Russia for the supply of "several million vaccines" against COVID-19.

Through a video message posted on his official Facebook social network account, Arauz also stated that his team has already prepared a vaccination schedule that will be implemented immediately, if he achieves victory in the polls.

This schedule would start with the immunization of front line health personnel, followed by the vaccination of adults over 70 years of age and health workers who are not directly in the front line.  Then, adults over 60 years of age and people with comorbidities would receive the vaccine and, finally, citizens between 18 and 59 years of age would be vaccinated.

In the message, the presidential candidate affirms that, if he wins next Sunday, he would be legally empowered to execute his intention to sign the official orders for the provision of vaccines on the Monday after the elections.

Throughout his campaign, Arauz pledged to manage the supply of vaccine compounds for Ecuador with all possible suppliers, having thanked through social networks countries such as Russia and Argentina for the support received in this endeavor.
