Colombia reports more than 11,000 cases of COVID-19 in one day

Bogota, April 5 (RHC)-- The Colombian Ministry of Health reported this Friday 11,449 new COVID-19 infections in the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the South American nation's total to 2 million 417,826 cases.

The text also reports that 192 Colombians died during the day, which brings the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in the country to 63,614.  A total of 53,115 positive patients remained active at the time of the report.

Regarding the number of samples tested for diagnosis, the Colombian Ministry of Health reports that a total of 12,790,489 clinical diagnostic tests have been performed, and on Thursday a total of 57,715. Of these tests processed the day before, 39,045 were performed by PCR method and 18,670 by antigen.

In addition, a total of 2 million 292,803 people are reported to have been infected by the SARS-COV-2 virus, and the number of vaccination doses applied against the disease reached 2 million 243,392 as of midnight on March 31.

Colombia registered this Wednesday the highest number of COVID-19 infections in almost two months, with 8,646 cases, which confirmed since then the new upward trend of the pandemic in the country.  In addition, the country surpassed the 63,000 deaths mark on Thursday, with the city of Bogota as the epicenter of the disease.
