Geneva, June 21 (RHC)-- The World Health Organization warns the Delta coronavirus variant, first identified in India, is fast becoming the dominant source of new COVID-19 cases globally.

Delta is surging across Europe and recently delayed Britain’s planned reopening.  It’s now the most common variant in Moscow, where cases are on the rise. Here in the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning Delta is more transmissible than other variants and is likely to become the dominant source of infections this summer.

U.S. President Joe Biden urged unvaccinated people to get shots to protect themselves and their communities.  He told reporters at the White House: "The Delta variant can cause more people to die in areas where people have not been vaccinated.  Where people have gotten the two shots, the Delta variant is highly unlikely to result in anything.”
