Another 768,000 doses of Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine arrive in Argentina

Buenos Aires, July 17 (RHC)-- As part of the Strategic Vaccination Plan against COVID-19, promoted by the Government of Argentina, another 768,000 doses of the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm arrived over the weekend, coming from Beijing.

This is the sixth of a dozen trips planned for July, to complete the 8 million doses, within the framework of the contract signed by the Argentine Ministry of Health with the China National Pharmaceutical Group Corp, for a total of 24 million vaccines until next September.

With the arrival of this new batch, transported by an Airbus 330-200 aircraft of Aerolíneas Argentinas, a total of 32,791,730 doses have been received, of which more than 30 million have been distributed in the 24 jurisdictions of the country.

Of these, 11,868,830 correspond to the Russian Sputnik V, (9,375,670 of component 1 and 2,493,160 of component 2); 10,680,000 to Sinopharm; 580,000 to AstraZeneca-Covishield; 1,944,000 to AstraZeneca through the Covax mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO); and 7,790,900 to AstraZeneca and Oxford; whose active ingredient was produced in Argentina.

According to the Public Vaccination Monitor, to date, 30,241,444 doses of vaccines have been distributed throughout the territory, while 26,865,613 have been applied.  Of this total, 21,589,098 people have been inoculated with the first dose and 5,276,515 have the complete vaccination schedule.

The authorities of the Argentine Ministry of Health confirmed that, in the last 24 hours, 17,261 new cases of coronavirus were registered, for a total of 4,737,213 since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 465 deaths, for a total of 101,158.
