From three points bumanguenses departed to Plaza Cívica Luis Carlos Galán where Petro addressed the crowd​

Bogota, May 19 (RHC)-- Residents of Bucamaranga held a rally in support of the arrival of presidential candidate Gustavo Petro to the capital of the Colombian department of Santander, in the final stretch of the election campaign.

From three points of the city, the people of Bumanguenses departed to Plaza Cívica Luis Carlos Galán where a large mobilization took place in which Petro addressed the crowd that chanted "down with the bad government."

During his speech, the candidate affirmed his support for the defense of the environment, in particular the conservation of the Santurbán páramo, while rejecting the application of harmful extraction techniques.

In this sense, the leader of the leftist party Colombia Humana, who is in the final stretch of his campaign, said: "The time has come to change the history of the nation.  A change for life."

On the other hand, the security forces increased their activities before the event.  The Secretary of the Interior of Bucaramanga, Melisa Franco, pointed out that more than 80 managers accompanied the peaceful mobilization.

According to the results of the last survey of the company Tecnología y Servicios Electorales, the candidate of the coalition of Pacto Histórico leads the voting intention against the right-wing candidate of Equipo por Colombia, Federico Gutiérrez.

Next May 29th, around 39 million Colombians will vote in the presidential elections, which, according to forecasts, should be extended to a second round to be held on June 19th.
