Mexico City, May 27 (teleSUR-RHC)-- At least 15,000 people took part in Mexico City's rallies to mark eight months since the 43 Ayotzinapa students were forcibly disappeared. And despite police attempts to block the marchers from gathering at the capital's main square Zocalo, supporters and relatives came together in front of the Presidential Palace.

The rallies, which stepped-off from four different locations within the city -- including the iconic Angel de la Independencia (Angel of Independence) -- were mostly peaceful.

The Iberoamericana University, one of the country's most important higher education institutions, released a statement in support of the rally and demanded federal authorities find alive 42 of the 43 Ayotzinapa students, as remains of one of the missing teacher trainees, Alexander Mora, were identified by Austrian forensic scientists.

The university also called on the federal government to fully resolve the case as soon as possible; sentence all those responsible for the events of September 26th last year when the students were attacked by municipal police and allegedly handed over to the Guerreros Unidos (United Warriors) drug cartel, and to guarantee reparations to the families of the victims.

Ayotzinapa students addressed the demonstrators saying they were going back to Guerrero and that there they would plan future actions to continue pressuring all levels of government to continue the investigations and to find their missing schoolmates alive.
