Three Days of Official Mourning in Venezuelan Capital for Journalist Ricardo Duran

Caracas, January 21 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan capital is observing three days of official mourning for journalist Ricardo Duran, killed the past Tuesday in Caracas. The mourning period was decreed by the mayor of the Libertador municipality, Jorge Rodriguez.

During a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Palace of Government, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Aristobulo Isturiz, honored the slain journalist.

Friends, colleagues and representatives of the Bolivarian Government who shared struggles with Duran in the construction of socialism, accompanied his family.

Ricardo Duran was a journalist with Venezolana de Television (VTV), a press officer at the National Assembly and was working as the media representative of the Government of the Capital District in Caracas when he was killed Tuesday evening.

He earned the National Journalism Award 2009 in the category of radio for his programs on Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV), and participated in numerous programs of "La Hojilla" with Mario Silva.
