UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon

United Nations, Apr 19 (RHC-PL) The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, reminded Israel of the Security Council resolutions passed against the occupation of Syria's Golan. Ki-moon’s remarks followed Israel’s Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyaju’s speech in which he declared that the Golan occupation would be permanent.

At a debate on the situation in the Middle East, Ban Ki-moon confirmed his awareness of Netanyaju's refutation of a withdrawal from the territory, seized from Syria during the wars of 1967 and 1973.

Ban Ki-moon reminded the government of Israel of its commitment with the implementation of UN resolutions, which rule as inadmissible the acquisition of territories through war, and have declared null the annexation of the Golan Heights via any internal Israeli law.
