Havana, February 1 (RHC)-- José Martí is a voice that demands balance, according to Havana historian Eusebio Leal during the closing of the IV International Conference for World Balance.

During his keynote speech at the Havana Convention Center, Leal said that Jose Martí calls for the fight for social justice, for the equality of men and the full and absolute dignity of women.

The Havana City historian noted that Marti struggled against poverty and worked for a world of equality.  He said that Cuba's National Hero accumulated no material wealth; that his immense wealth was his spirit.

The IV International Conference for World Balance was held in Havana this past week to commemorate the 166th anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti.   More than 650 delegates from some 65 countries attended the meeting, which is held every three years in the Cuban capital.
