Cuban Psychiatry Congress underway in Havana

Havana, March 13 (RHC) The Ninth Cuban Psychiatry Congress is underway with the participation of some 100 specialists from America, Europe and Australia, who are discussing the development of the discipline in light of new technologies.

President of the Cuban Society of Psychiatry noted that technological development requires changes to healthcare systems and research methods, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Experts from almost 15 countries are meeting at the Convention Center through March 15 to discuss the challenges of the specialty.

Meanwhile, the president of the organizing committee, Miriam de la Osa, led a conference on the current situation and future of Cuban psychiatry. Participants will also discuss topics such as psychotherapy, mental health in emergencies and disasters, forensic psychiatry, as well as psychiatric rehabilitation. 

Meanwhile, the event features renowned international personalities such as Australian Helen Herrman, president of the World Psychiatric Association.

The Seventh Pan American Congress of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the Second International Congress of Psychotherapy are running parallel to the Cuban event.
