Havana, April 25 (RHC)-- The restructuring and transformation of the Integrated System of Medical Emergencies was the focus of the capital's Provincial Defense Council, which also analyzed compliance with the measures for the confrontation of COVID-19, in areas such as health, agriculture and protection.

In the presence of Major General Ramón Pardo Guerra, Chief of the National Civil Defence Staff, Carlos Alberto Martínez Blanco, provincial director of health, highlighted the importance of tasks such as training the support brigades in the institutions and providing them with the necessary means of protection to avoid contagion as much as possible.

The flow to the final destination of solid waste from health centers wass reviewed with the directorate of community services to verify that all effective protocols and precautions are being followed.

Given the current epidemiological situation, a new strategy is being considered for the operation of the grandparents' homes, which will limit their presence in the centers, except in exceptional cases.

Martínez Blanco specified that a commission will be appointed to discuss the cases of those who have died, and to monitor the effectiveness of discharges and their impact on the use of beds, following the results of the PCR on the fifth day of the onset of symptoms.
