Havana, September 15 (RHC)—Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel criticized the U.S. Administration for its disregard of the international heed for comprehensive and concerted action against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.N. General Assembly approved on September 11, an Omnibus Resolution for COVID-19 Response, which called for intensified international cooperation and solidarity to contain, mitigate and overcome the pandemic and its consequences.

At the request of Cuba, paragraph 20 of the resolution was amended to strongly urge states to refrain from promulgating and applying any unilateral economic, financial, or trade measures not following international law and the UN Charter that impede the full achievement of economic and social development, particularly in developing countries.

Despite the opposition of the U.S. and Israel, the Cuban proposal was approved

On Tuesday, President Diaz-Canel wrote on Twitter: "The imperial arrogance ignored the absolute support of the international community for the resolution "Comprehensive and coordinated response to the COVID-19 pandemic" approved at the U.N. Once again, the evil of the empire and its lack of commitment to humanity are expressed."
