Havana, April 18 (RHC) The Resolution on the Central Report to the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) was approved this Sunday in Havana by the delegates to the meeting, whose plenary session is presided over by Army General Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee.

The Resolution points out that the Report evaluates with objectivity, fairness, clarity and critical sense the tasks developed by the Party and the people in the past five years, as well as the shortcomings of the domestic work, the bureaucracy, inertia and resistance to change, as well as the lack of firmness, accountability, and control in the face of negative phenomena.

It also ratifies that the development of the national economy, together with the struggle for peace and ideological firmness, constitutes the primary missions of the Party.

The document highlights that the Central Report makes an accurate assessment of the fulfillment of the measures approved for the confrontation of the Covid-19 pandemic, exposes the performance of the national economy, and identifies the subjective factors that affect the economic management.

The Resolution refers to the need to promote in the Party and in society, in general, the broadest democracy and permanent exchange of opinions, sincere and deep, not necessarily coinciding; to strengthen the link with workers and the population, and to ensure the growing participation of citizens in fundamental decisions.

It adds that the Communist Party should maintain the confrontation of prejudices and all types of discrimination that still survive and threaten the nation's unity.

The Central Report calls for revitalizing the actions of the mass organizations in all spheres of society and updating their functioning.

Likewise, it indicates that in the ideological-political work, it is not enough to do more of the same. It is necessary to carry out a profound transformation aimed at strengthening the essences and values that emanate from the work of the Revolution.
