Cuba confirmed 1,291 new cases of Covid-19 and 11 deaths in the last 24 hours

Havana, May 25 (RHC)-- The national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported on Tuesday 11 deaths and 1,291 new Covid-19 infections during the last 24 hours.

The island accumulates 135,499 infections and 901 deaths since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

During his usual press briefing, the specialist informed that by midnight 6,928 positive patients remained hospitalized.

Havana reported 570 cases, Santiago de Cuba 198, and Pinar del Rio 113 cases.

The capital continues reporting more than half of all the cases diagnosed on the island.  The western provinces of Mayabeque, Pinar del Rio and Havana, along with Santiago de Cuba in the east are the territories diagnosing most infections.

Meanwhile, Public Health authorities said that the vaccination drive underway with the homegrown vaccines is taking place as planned.

Nonetheless,

authorities insisted on the need to increase self-responsibility and respect hygienic-sanitary measures such as the use of masks and social distancing.
