Havana, August 7 (RHC)-- First Secretary of the Party's Central Committee and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, held a meeting with religious leaders of the country that he described as ennobling on his official Twitter account.

The President commented that the dialogue this Friday with members of the Council of Churches and ecumenical representatives was focused on what is possible to do together for the good of the Homeland.

He added that these conversations would be followed by others with different directors of religious institutions and fraternal associations as part of the constant bond maintained for years.

In the last week, the Cuban President had meetings with people from different sectors of society to listen to their criteria on the country's problems and proposals for solutions.

At the end of the encounter, President  Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, decorated Pastor Raúl Suárez with the second degree Félix Varela Order, an award also given post mortem to Reverend Pablo Odén Marichal.

Suarez, pastor emeritus of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Marianao, upon receiving the Order, said that he had not retired, but that he was in full jubilee, of joy and happiness.

Meanwhile, Pablo Odén Marichal, who died in May this year, stood out for his ecumenical vocation of total dedication and honesty, and his performance in different responsibilities in various religious organizations.

This Friday, the Council of Churches was also recognized for the 80th anniversary of its foundation and its historical attitude of respect, social participation and commitment to the Revolution.
