Alejandro Gil Fernandez, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP)

Havana, August 12 (RHC)-- Alejandro Gil Fernandez,  deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), ratified on Wednesday the importance of the recent approval by the Council of State of four decree-laws to give legal authority to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and other economic actors.

In a televised appearance at the Mesa Redonda program, he recalled that the creation of MSMEs has been part of the Cuban government's plan for years.

He argued that particularly this year, they have been working on the design of the legal norms. This process, according to its progress, has been informed to the population, not only because they are aimed at improving the actors of the economic fabric, which includes the socialist state enterprise, the MSMEs themselves, non-agricultural cooperatives, and self-employed workers, but also because of the expectations that exist around this new figure.

Gil Fernández added that there is potential, reserves, and talent to achieve growth in production amid such adversities based on better use of resources. He stressed that the new decree-laws of the Council of State aimed at the realization of MSMEs and other actors puts the country in better conditions for the desired improvement, which also impacts state enterprises.
