Santiago de Cuba, August 13 (RHC) At the Santa Ifigenia cemetery, residents of the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, together with Party and Government authorities, paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, on August 13, Fidel's 95th birthday.

The solemn ceremony was attended by representatives of political and mass organizations of the territory and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and the Ministry of the Interior.

The tribute began with the laying of a wreath on behalf of the Cuban people, in front of the monolith where the ashes of the leader of the Revolution rest in the Santiago necropolis.

The heavy rain caused by the passing of the tropical storm Fred accompanied remembrance, where the inhabitants also placed flowers before the monolith.
