Havana, Sep 21 (RHC) On Monday, the Cuban government called for the design of a strategy for the gradual opening of services to the population, in view of the decrease in daily cases of COVID-19 and the advance of vaccination.

In addition, the country's Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, called to review the schedule of the limitation of movement, select the establishments that will provide services and make the certification of the same by the corresponding authorities.

During the regular meeting of the working group for the confrontation of COVID-19, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, informed that September maintains a decrease in the average number of positive cases per day, lower by 7.8 percent with respect to August.

'The highest levels of transmission have been concentrated in the provinces of Pinar del Río, Sancti Spíritus, Holguín and Havana, which represent 51 percent of the total number of confirmed cases,' said the minister.

Marrero urged to reinforce protection measures in those territories where there are still high incidence rates of the disease and asked to accelerate the vaccination of the population.

The meeting also addressed the current situation of the distribution of medical oxygen and medicines in health institutions.

Recently, the country's authorities assured that the vaccination against COVID-19 already covers the entire national territory, is progressing as planned and constitutes one of the nation's most important tasks.

According to Portal Miranda, the group that has received a first dose of immunogens constitutes 68.9 percent of the population.

On the other hand, those who reached the second injection exceed 47 percent and those who reached the third and last one represent more than 40 percent of the inhabitants of the archipelago. (Source: Prensa Latina).
