Cuban and Russian Presidents hold phone conversation

Havana, January 24 (RHC)— The Cuban Foreign Ministry announced that the island's President, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, held a phone conversation on Monday morning.

A statement from the Foreign Ministry described the talks as cordial and fruitful'.

"The two Heads of State reviewed the excellent relations between the two countries and discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in various spheres. They also exchanged views on international and regional agenda issues," the ministry said on Monday.

Diaz-Canel expressed gratitude for the supplies of humanitarian assistance received from Russia, "which played a decisive role in combating the pandemic consequences."

The Kremlin press service said earlier on Monday that Putin and Diaz-Canel exchanged views on bilateral trade-and-economic and investment cooperation and discussed further cooperation of the countries' activities in the international arena in line with the principles of strategic partnership and traditions of friendship and mutual understanding.
