Universidad 2022 hosts international forum of ministers and industry representatives

University 2022 Congress​

Havana, February 9 (RHC)-- Ministers and representatives of higher education from Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe will participate today in a forum on sustainable development as part of the University 2022 Congress.

The meeting, called Forum of Ministers and Authorities of Higher Education, will be held in a hybrid way (face-to-face and virtual) and will be inaugurated with a keynote speech by José Ramón Saborido, head of university education in Cuba.

Representatives from Russia, China, Spain, Venezuela, Mexico, Gambia, United Arab Emirates and Spain have confirmed their attendance.

This high-level segment of the Congress will also feature several panels, including one dedicated to policies of access and inclusion in higher education and the challenges facing universities in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For the third day of Universidad 2022, the organizing committee has announced a lecture by Alejandro Gil Fernández, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba, on the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs) and their articulation with the National Plan for Economic and Social Development 2030 (PNDES) in Cuba.

In another part of the program, Ena Elsa Velázquez, Cuba's Minister of Education, will speak on the continuity of Cuban general education in times of pandemic.

Artificial intelligence, teacher training, distance education and local development and innovation are on the agenda for the third day of the event.

Universidad 2022 began on Monday in hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtual) with the participation of representatives from more than thirty countries.
