Havana, July 21 (RHC) -- The Islamic League of Cuba demanded the release of the three anti-terrorist Cubans still held in U.S. prisons, during its activities related to the sacred Ramadan month.
According to Cuban television, Islamic League president Pedro Lazo said that the rites and prayers during Ramadan have been dedicated to ask for peace in the world and for the freedom of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, so that they can return to their families in Cuba.
These three men, along Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, were arrested by US authorities nearly 16 years ago for having prevented terrorist actions against Cuba, said Lazo and added that only Rene and Fernando returned home after they fully served unfair prison sentences.
Ramadan is internationally recognized as a month in which the Muslims practice their fasting period from dawn to dusk, according to their religious faith.
