Diaz-Canel says not to be discouraged with news of Felton fire

Havana, July 9 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez referred to Friday's fire in block two of the Lidio Ramón Pérez de Felton Thermoelectric Power Plant, and called for people not to be discouraged.

In his official Twitter account, the president said that the war is to be won and the effort needs enthusiasm.

In another tweet, the president highlighted the efforts made to extinguish the fire, and pointed out that a people like this is destined to overcome all challenges.

"I heard that some cried when they saw the fire devouring so much effort, but that everyone ran to help put it out.  Such people is destined to overcome all challenges. #Cuba knows how to turn setbacks into victory. #ProudOfMyCountry," he stressed.

This Friday, at around 2:37 p.m., in block two of the Lidio Ramón Pérez Power Plant in Holguín province, a fire started in one of the boiler sections, specifically in corner of burner eight.   The fire was put out quickly and no human lives were lost.

Osmel Maturel Reyes, general director of the facility, stated to the press that they will begin to analyze the causes of this incident and evaluate the material losses to determine the pertinent actions and the recovery period of this part of the boiler.
