Cuban President inaugurated the International Pedagogy Congress 2023

Havana, Jan 30 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel inaugurated on Monday the International Congress Pedagogy 2023 with a conference on Science and Innovation Management in the country's general education system.

In its 18th edition, this event will be attended by at least 37 ministers and some 18 renowned personalities in the sector, who will address issues aimed at promoting inclusive, quality, and equitable education.

The conclave began with a tribute to pedagogue José Ramón Fernández, through images and testimonies of those who worked with him in the Ministry of Education.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture, Mario Jabonero, highlighted Cuba's permanent commitment to education and culture while pointing out the need to overcome the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the region, which made evident the great gaps in education and deepened them even more.

Also attending the meeting were the head of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero.

This year’s sessions, which will last until next Friday, will be held at the Convention Palace in hybrid mode, focused on promoting the socialization of scientific knowledge, dialogue, and exchange of good practices and results of educational research.

As part of the Congress, the first meeting of ministers of the Group of 77 plus China will be held, which will address the challenges in this important sector for the countries of the South in the post-pandemic context and the role of science and innovation in teacher training.
