Havana, March 14 (RHC) A fraternal meeting among Russian and Cuban journalists at the Caribbean island's Embassy in Moscow marked the celebration of Cuban Press Day in Russia.

According to Cuban Ambassador to Russia Julio Garmendia, it is a propitious occasion to celebrate with our Russian friends the historic dimension of the date, when Cuban National Hero Jose Marti published the first issue of the pro-independence newspaper ‘Patria’ (Homeland).

The ambassador outlined the current state of relations between Russia and Cuba and commented on the prospects for economic, commercial, scientific, educational, and cultural exchange.

Garmendia emphasized the potential of Russian tourism in Cuba, as well as the exchange in other areas such as biotechnology and health care.

The Cuban diplomat thanked Russian media for its extensive coverage of Cuba over the past year and congratulated the Cuban journalists who are working in Russia on behalf of their agencies.

Also present at the event were representatives of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. (Source: PL)
