Havana, March 2 (RHC)-- Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Friday conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of Rey Cabrera, a renowned musician of our country living in Belgium, who passed away at the age of 81.

The foreign minister stressed on the social network X that Cabrera was a great artist and human being, who dedicated his work to spreading Cuban culture and its traditions and identity.

The Consulate of the Caribbean nation in Belgium and Luxembourg also conveyed its heartfelt condolences and stressed that Cabrera's legacy in defense of patriotic values and Cuba's traditional music will always be present.

Born in Santiago de Cuba, Rey Cabrera grew up with the traditional sounds of peasant music and son, sounds that led him to become a master of the tres (typical Cuban guitar).

Since 2003, he has lived in Brussels, Belgium, where he continued to cultivate his art with the Rey Cabrera group and his friends, according to the Cuban News Agency.

In 2020, to celebrate his 50 years of artistic life, he returned to Santiago de Cuba, where he gave a concert with the participation of prestigious groups of the patio, such as the septets Cañambú and Son Dinámico (Source: Prensa Latina).
