Cuban president mourns death of officers in plane crash

Havana, April 11 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel lamented on Wednesday the death of the three officers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), who lost their lives in a crash of the helicopter during a mission.

"To the relatives, comrades and friends of Major Dairon González Espinosa, First Lieutenant Carlos Enrique Frómeta Rodríguez and Second Lieutenant Yunier Céspedes Escalona, we feel as our own their pain, for the loss of such valuable young combatants," the president wrote in his account on X.

The secretary of organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, also expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the deceased young men. 

According to a FAR note, the plane crash occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, when the helicopter, crashed at the Antonio Maceo Grajales International Airport in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.

A FAR commission is currently investigating the causes of the accident.   (Source: Prensa Latina)
