Cuban First Vice President Meets President of Tatarstan

Havana, November 3 (RHC) –- Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz Canel held talks on Sunday with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgaliyevich, who is on an official visit to the island.

During the talks, Diaz-Canel and Nurgaliyevich corroborated the development of bilateral historic ties between their countries and considered the potential to further strengthen commercial, economic and cooperation relations between Cuba and that sister republic of the Russian Federation.

They also expressed their willingness to encourage investment by Tatarstan´s business community in Cuba given the opportunities offered by the new Cuban foreign investment law and the opening of the Special Development Zone at the Mariel harbor.

The President of Tatarstan had previously met with Cuban government vice-president Ricardo Cabrizas on bilateral interest in boosting economic relations.
