Havana, May 18 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel mourned this Saturday the death of combatant and revolutionary leader Osmany Cienfuegos Gorriarán, older brother of legendary guerrilla Camilo Cienfuegos.
Through the social media platform X, the Cuban head of state extended his condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of Osmany Cienfuegos, who died today at the age of 95.
Osmany, a captain in the Rebel Army, suffered imprisonment and torture during Batista's tyranny, Cubadebate recalled.
After the triumph of the Revolution, he held various positions, including Minister of Public Works, from where he presided over Urban Reform.
In 1966, he became secretary general of the Tricontinental and remained president of the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, which produced a poster design that became part of Cuban design history.
He was the founding minister of the Ministry of Tourism and vice president of the Council of Ministers.
