Havana, November 20 (RHC)-- The Cuban Penal Code faces the challenge of evolving to match the new conditions created by the updating of the social and economic model in the country, declared in Havana the well know judicial expert Pavel Peterssen,
This noted Cuban jurist is attending at Havana’s Palace of the Conventions the International Congress on the Law and Lawyers, which opened this Tuesday with the participation of delegates from many countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and elsewhere.
Petersen said that is not only necessary to adapt oneself to changes, but experts should anticipate them.
The new Social and Economic Policy being now implemented by the Communist Party and the Government of Cuba is creating a scenario radically different from the one we all grew with, the Cuban jurist said, and added: It demands that we adapt ourselves to the new rules and conditions, related to new ways of management and to ongoing transformations of the country.
The Cuban lawyer said that enterprises in Cuba have added temporary workers to their rosters, something which was not foreseen in earlier economic structures. Thus, a new legal figure has been created which demands attention and protection.
