Cuba and China Sign New Bilateral Cooperation Initiatives

Beijing, July 30 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and his Chinese counterpart Gao Hucheng signed a document in Beijing on Wednesday on the development of bilateral economic, commercial relations for the 2016-2020 period.

The two sides expressed satisfaction about the upcoming opening of a direct flight by Air China between Beijing and Havana, and Cuba announced its willingness to begin using the Chinese currency in bilateral trade relations in 2016.

Rodrigo Malmierca and Gao Hucheng also signed agreements related to the areas of renewable energy and the export of Cuban nickel to China.

The Cuban minister, who paid an official visit to China this week, also met with the president of China's Export Credit Insurance Corporation, Wang Yi; with the governor of China Banking Corporation for Development, Hu Huaibang; with the president of the Civil Aviation Administration, Li Jiaxiang and with the vice president of China's National Commission for Development and Reforms, Lin Nianxiu.
