United Nations, November 26 (RHC)-- In a declaration delivered at the United Nations General Assembly, Cuba has ratified its full support for Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.

Cuba, said the island’s Permanent Representative, Rodolfo Reyes, will continue supporting the Palestine people in its legitimate quest for justice, dignity, peace and the right to self-determination.

The Cuban delegate spoke at a debate by the General Assembly on Palestine rights during the current forty eighth period of sessions.

The General Assembly must demand from the Security Council that it endorses without further delay the approval of Palestine’s request presented in 2011 to the General Assembly that it be recognized as a full member of the United Nations.

The Cuban delegate spoke at a session devoted to Palestine on the occasion of the celebration this coming Friday of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine.

“Israeli crimes and violations against Palestine and its people are an insult to humankind and to all rules and norms of existing treaties and resolutions by the General Assembly and the Security Council”, the Cuban delegate said, and added: “Cuba rejects the constant violations of human rights by Israel, supported by the United States and other Western powers”.

Since October last year, the Cuban Permanent Representative to the United Nations recalled, Israel has demolished 594 apartment blocks belonging to Palestinian families, and displaced more than 900 men, women and children legally living in them.
