Uruguay Will Be Guest of Honor at Havana's International Book Fair

Havana, November 26 (RHC)-- The 25th International Book Fair of Havana will be held February 11th through the 21st 2016, dedicated to Uruguay and to Cuban writers Lina de Feria and Rogelio Martínez Furé.

Organizers said that some 250 intellectuals from 30 countries have confirmed their attendance at Havana's book fiesta, considered one of the main events on Cuba's annual cultural calendar.

Speaking to reporters in Havana, Cuban Book Institute President Zuleica Romay Guerra, Deputy President Edel Morales and Book Fair Director Eduardo Fernández said that the upcoming event will also pay tribute to writer José Soler Puig, the 130th anniversary of the abolition of slavery and the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the Granma yacht.

Visiting Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin announced that Uruguayan President Tabaré Vázquez will travel to Cuba to attend the book fair.
