Buenos Aires, December 14 (RHC)-- Cuba is making efforts to attract new businesses as part of its economic model update, said in Argentina, Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, reported Prensa Latina.

He also referred to his recent visits to Arab countries, as well as Vietnam, China, Spain and France and said during the tours he saw great interest by entrepreneurs to meet the guarantees and incentives provided by the new act to invest in Cuba.

He stressed the new business project portfolio that Cuba promotes as an instrument to facilitate these opportunities.

Malmierca, who traveled to Argentina for the inauguration of President Mauricio Macri, held a meeting with local businessmen, to whom he presented the package of proposals to clarify and answer their questions.

This new portfolio offers 326 projects in 12 sectors of the economy, and the common denominator is that they are supported by feasibility studies.

They are analyzed to help foreign investors having the opportunity to contact with Cuban companies operating in their areas and expedite the negotiation of the proposals, he said.

The minister stressed that the Cuban government wants to have a diverse economy with relationships in every country in the world and remarked: "We do not want to depend on a single market and this is a fundamental policy of the economic renovation program the state is boosting."

With this statement he dispels concerns of business people thinking that when the United States to remove the blockade and allow businesses in Cuba, this nation would abandon operations with companies from other countries.

Regarding economic ties between Argentina and Cuba, he noted that they are brother countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and there is much complementarity between them that should be exploded.
