Cuba’s General Prosecutors Office is Forty Years Old

Havana, December 24 (RHC)-- The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Cuba celebrated its 40th Anniversary on Monday, December 23rd.

Cuban Vice President Jose Ramón Machado Ventura chaired an official meeting in Havana to mark the occasion.

Awards were presented to Fidel and Raul Castro at the ceremony, and also to former attorney general Juan Escalona who founded the organization.

In turn, the Attorney General’s office was presented with awards from the Cuban Trades Union Center and the National Union of Jurists.

The Attorney General’s Office is entrusted with the application of the country’s laws and the adequate protection of jurisprudence by state and private institutions and citizens and also with the application of penal sanctions to private and or official offenders.
