Havana, May 30 (RHC) Cuba participated in the 30th Ministerial Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), represented by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting took place on Thursday in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
The Foreign Ministry's official website announces that the meeting focused on rallying international support for crucial regional initiatives, prioritizing marine conservation, sustainable tourism, and emergency preparedness.
In this context, the island reaffirmed its commitment to an ACS that prioritizes technical endeavors, rooted in local capabilities and coordinated on a regional scale.
As the head of the Caribbean Sea Commission, the largest of the Antilles advocates for the Caribbean to be recognized as a Special Area for Sustainable Development, and supports initiatives to reduce the impact of sargassum on ecosystems.
The ministerial conference was aimed at strengthening the demand for turning diagnoses into practical measures, ensuring that initiatives are stepped up to guarantee that global resources are directed to the most vulnerable communities and ecosystems in the Greater Caribbean. (Source: ACN)
